I’ll be honest with you: I spend a lot of time thinking about keys.
I think about the weight of them in my pocket, the sound they’ll make when they turn in a lock for the first time, and the feeling of pushing open a heavy door to welcome you all inside. For a long time, in my head, Noa’s Place was just that: a physical building. A destination. A "place" where the lights are just right, the coffee is always hot, and nobody looks at you funny if your kid is having a hard time.
But lately, something has shifted.
Even though we haven’t signed a lease or painted a single wall yet, Noa’s Place is already very much alive. It’s growing in our inbox, it’s buzzing on social media, and it’s being built every time one of you sends a message saying, "Finally, someone gets it."
The "Hub" isn't just a set of coordinates in Halifax. It’s the community that has already started gathering around the idea of it. We might not have the keys yet, but we definitely have the community.
More than just a building
When we first started talking about creating an inclusive community hub, I had a gut feeling that there were other families out there like mine. Families who felt isolated, families who were tired of "making do," and families who just wanted a space where they didn't have to explain themselves.
I didn't expect the response to be quite so loud.
In our first four days of going public, we saw over 2,000 people sign their names in support. We had over 500 sign-ups to our mailing list before we’d even finished our first pot of coffee.
What does that tell us? It tells us that SEND support in Halifax and across West Yorkshire isn't just a "nice to have." It is a vital, urgent necessity.
Those 2,000 signatures aren't just names on a digital list. They represent 2,000 stories. They represent parents who are tired of fighting for the basics and kids who deserve a place to play without being told they’re "too much" or "too loud."

Building the Foundations (The Boring But Important Stuff)
Before you build the roof, you’ve got to dig the foundations. Over the last few months, that’s exactly what we’ve been doing behind the scenes.
If you’ve been following our journey at noasplace.org.uk/about, you’ll know that we have our application in to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO, to be fancy). Taking the steps to become a charity is a huge milestone for us because it means we aren't just a "project": we’re building something that’s set up to serve our community for the long haul.
But a charity is only as strong as the people running it. I’m incredibly proud to say we’ve assembled a "Dream Team" for our Board of Trustees. We didn’t just look for people who liked the idea; we looked for people with the skills to make it a reality.
We’re building this the right way. We aren't just winging it. We’re creating a professional, sustainable organisation that can support neurodivergent families in West Yorkshire for years to come.
The Founding Families: You are the Architects
At Noa’s Place, we don’t believe in "doing to" people; we believe in "doing with."
The families who are joining our mailing list and engaging with us online right now aren't just "users": you are the Founding Families. You are the ones shaping what this project becomes.
When you tell us about your struggles with school transitions or your need for a better safety plan, you are giving us the blueprints for the hub.
We’ve already started building out our interactive tools because we know that support can't wait for a physical building. Whether it’s a tool for understanding a child's sensory profile or help with managing feelings, we want to provide value right now, right where you are.
Every time you use one of these tools or give us feedback on our plans, you are adding a brick to Noa’s Place. You are the reason this exists.
Why the wait will be worth it
I know that for many of you, life is lived in the "waiting room." You’re waiting for an assessment, waiting for a specialist appointment, waiting for a school place. I know how exhausting that "waiting" can be.
The road to the physical hub might feel long, but we aren't just sitting by the side of the road. We are moving. We are growing. We are building a community that will eventually move into that building together.
The Hub is going to be a place where the "masking" stops.
You know that thing we all do? Where we try to act "normal" so we don't make anyone uncomfortable? At Noa’s Place, that doesn’t exist. Your child can stim, you can cry, you can sit in silence, or you can talk for an hour. Whatever you need, you’ll find it here.

Join the Road Trip
If you haven’t already, I’d love for you to join us. You don’t need a diagnosis, you don't need a referral, and you definitely don't need to have it all together.
You can sign up for our waiting list or check out our latest updates at noasplace.org.uk. By joining the community now, you’ll be the first to hear about our pilot sessions and the first to know when we finally get those keys.
We’re building something special here in Halifax. It’s not just a building; it’s a promise. A promise that you don’t have to do this alone.
The road to the Hub is busy, it’s exciting, and there is a seat in the car for you.
Let's build this together.
